The Parents of Judson Henry and Elmina Louise Holt

Henry Sparks Holt and Permilia Holt nee Schenck

Henry Sparks Holt was born in England around 1830 and came to the United States in the late 1840's. According to family oral tradition he was a runaway bound boy who changed his name from Henry Sparks to Henry Sparks Holt. He married a Pennsylvania Dutch girl, Permilia Schenck, in 1857 in Iowa. After fighting in the Civil War under General Lawton, Henry and Permilia settled on a farm in Minnesota.

Jno. Wallace and Sarah Wallace (nee Hazelton)

Acording to oral tradition, the family of Judson Henry's wife Elmina had two sisters named Mary and Rachel and two brothers. The 1880 census has a record of Jno. Wallace and Sarah Wallace with daughters of the right age named Mary, Elmira, and Rachel as well as sons William and Herbert living in Capioma, Kansas. We think this is the correct Wallace family. According to this census record, Grandfather Wallace was born 1837 in Pennsylvania of parents from Canada and Vermont. Sarah Wallace was born in 1840 in Ohio of parents born in Vermont and New York. The five children were born in Iowa.
